A corner of the graveyard at Colmonell Parish Church
Some gravestones in the Church Graveyard of Colmonell Church in South Ayrshire, but look closely at the carvings on the stone on the right. Each symbol has a meaning just like egyptian hieroglyphics. For example, the trumpeting angels mean the resurrection, the hour glass represents the passing of time, the skeleton represents life's brevity.
