Mellon Charles, former Boom defence site
Some of the structures that remain from the Boom Defence Depot at Mellon Charles. During WWII Submarine nets were strung across Loch Ewe from here to protect the Russian Convoys that were assembled in the loch before sailing north. The site was still in use as a depot up until around 2010 as can be seen from an earlier photo. Map location.
