Melrose Abbey
Melrose Abbey is said to be where Robert The Bruce's Heart is buried.  In 1921 a heart was discovered in a lead casket under the chapter house floor.  During a 1996 archaeological excavation it was rediscovered and subsequently re-buried with a plaque unveiled by Donald Dewar on 24th June 1998, the day of the anniversary of Bruce's victory over the English at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314.
