Part of the old Gorbals Water Works
In 1846 the Gorbals Gravitation Water Company was set up to provide clean water to the south side of Glasgow, including Barrhead.  By scheme included Balgray, Ryat Linn, Waulkmill Glen and Littleton Reservoirs and the water was piped in 24 inch pipes to Glasgow.  It was opened some time around 1860.
